    Adjudicator: Mr John Burton.

John Burton has been interested in photography for over 55 years. His first camera was a Brownie 127 which cost 25 shillings and all his pocket money. Later he took holiday jobs and saved for a 35mm camera, an Agfa Silette. Later years saw him using a variety of SLR film and now digital cameras.
His interest in local history has given a focus for his photography and several projects have enabled him to photograph the Borough at its best. These have included pictures for the Borough in Bloom competitions, calendars, post cards and numerous illustrations for Heritage centres in the area.
His work has been exhibited in Nuneaton Museum and in an exchange with Cottbus in Germany. Some of his local history books make use of his own material, some recent, some old.

In the award for a special area in 2012 he is interested is seeing how entrants interpret ‘The Borough at its Best’
